On September 9, 2025, the Nigeria Wind Energy Council (NWEC) proudly joined The Federal Ministry of Power, funded by the European Union, to bring together key government agencies and industry stakeholders for the European Union Global Technical Assistance Facility for Sustainable Energy; Development of a Draft Wind Energy Development Strategy” Baseline Study Presentation Workshop held in Abuja.
This workshop marked a significant step in developing Nigeria’s National Wind Energy Strategy and Roadmap. The baseline study provided the first comprehensive picture of Nigeria’s wind energy potential, highlighting promising sites nationwide, assessing the legal and regulatory frameworks, and exploring financing options to unlock investment in the sector.
It also fostered a space for open dialogue, where stakeholders shared insights, identified opportunities, and began shaping a coordinated approach to accelerate wind energy development. For NWEC, this moment signifies more than just a technical milestone; it is another step on a collaborative journey to build Nigeria’s cleaner, more resilient, and sustainable energy future.
